Precision C/N Ratio Generation at Specific Carrier Frequencies Enables New Testing Capabilities for Multi-Signal Data Streams in Satellite Communications
Noisecom, a Wireless Telecom Group company, announces a new CNG-EbNo programmable precision carrier-to-noise (C/N) generator with an integrated spectrum analyzer designed for communication systems data streams that include multiple carriers in the frequency band. This new CNG-EbNo allows system designers and test engineers to isolate and characterize a specific frequency in the input data stream, accurately measure the power of the carrier at that frequency and generate a precise C/N ratio. Traditionally a C/N ratio generator takes power level measurements across the entire frequency band and generates a C/N ratio based on the average power measured across the band. This is effective with a single carrier or frequency of interest but once multiple data streams are introduced this method is inadequate. The new CNG-EbNo with integrated spectrum analyzer solves the problem by leveraging power level measurement capabilities of the spectrum analyzer and generating C/N ratios with that data.
The CNG-EbNo is a fully automated instrument that sets and maintains a highly accurate ratio between a user-supplied carrier and internally generated additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) over a wide range of signal power levels and frequencies. The instrument gives system, design and test engineers in cellular, satellite and military communications industries a cost-effective means of obtaining higher yield through automated testing plus increased confidence from repeatable, accurate test results.
From the basic noise diode to the most sophisticated noise generators Noisecom noise products have been in use in major laboratories around the world for decades and become the standard for noise generation. The CNG-EbNo series precision generators are frequency and power customizable.
